From the Barber Shop and Shoe Shine Memories licensed collection this Congress Vintage Metal Sign measures 14 inches by 8 inches and weighs in at 1 lb(s). Garters were sexy for men??!!! Yes kinda. It solved an embarrassing problem that men suffered…limp fallen socks imagine getting your shoes shined & your socks were seen to be fallen below your ankles. OMG call the sock cops! Early cotton wool & silk socks did not have elastics of today and would quickly fall below the ankles. The Congress Garter solved that by keeping the man’s socks erect & lifted tightly with a double grip. Image is from an original 1920’s garter box. The metal sign gets folks ta thinking about a wardrobe change! This Vintage Metal Sign is hand made in the USA using heavy gauge American steel.
